If you are new to kindergarten or just looking for a new way to start the year, then this post is for you.

One of my favorite resources to use is CalendarNotebooks.  Through the use of calendar notebooks, I can cover a variety of common core skills in a short amount of time.  To read more about Calendar Notebooks, click here.

Do you have a plan for the students who always finish their work ahead of all the other students?  I use Fast Finisher Bins for these students.  The Fast finisher bins cover a wide variety of skills.  they are designed for individual students to use either at their desks or a quiet space in the classroom.

Another resource that I used last year almost daily was my Back to School Learning Binder.  This binder covers a wide variety of basic skills. Once the binder is set up for each student, it is a resource that can be used, year after year.  The binder covers letter and number formations, math, and ELA skills.

Do you have a Calm Down Corner in your classroom?  In my classroom, I have an area for students to go to if they need a break.  The area is used almost daily.  I have a few students who are frequent fliers.  This space feels safe to them.  Within the space, I have tools that help my students regain their self-control and calm down.  If you want to read more about this area and the specific tools I use, you can see it here and here.
