Fans of Creepy Carrots will love Creepy Pair of Underwear. While my younger kids did not appreciate the original book, this sequel was universally appealing to all my kids. What child doesn’t love a story about underpants? The illustrations and tone might be a little spooky for very young and sensitive children. However, once your kids pick up that it is supposed to be funny, they will think this book is hilarious.

While I was reading this book to my 4 kids, I kept asking my four year old if he was okay and he wanted to me to stop. I said it in a joking voice so he would know that I was being silly and understand that this book was not really supposed to be scary. As with the first book in the series, young children might not understand that this book is supposed to be funny.
However, my older kids were laughing so much at this book, that my younger kids immediately understood that it was not to be taken seriously. The premise is that a little rabbit, who normally wears plain white underwear, decides to buy a pair of creepy, glow-in-the-dark underwear. Basically, any book that says the word underwear is a winner in my house.
When he becomes afraid of his own underwear, he tries to get rid of them only to find that they spookily keep returning. The line, “A grown rabbit couldn’t be afraid of his own underpants,” got belly laughs all around. In the end, there is a happy ending, which honestly was probably my twisted children’s least favorite part. They would have loved for that rabbit to stay afraid of his underpants forever.
