Create a festive fall candy corn craft from our free printable template. It’s an easy Halloween craft for preschoolers and kindergarteners!
Candy corn is such a fall staple. I know that it is not everyone’s favorite candy, but I still enjoy seeing it in stores and finding new ways to use it. They are great materials to use for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school activities.
This adorable candy corn craft would be perfect to display in your homeschool room in the fall. There are a few smaller pieces, so little hands may need help when cutting. Just print the template out on candy corn-colored cardstock or construction paper, cut, and paste!
If you want something fun to read aloud while working, I recommend The Candy Corn Contest by Patricia Reilly Giff. It’s a sweet story about doing the right thing and being kind to others.
How to Make Paper Candy Corn Man Craft
Materials:
- Free candy corn craft template
- Colored construction papers (white, orange, yellow, and brown)
- Glue stick or Elmer’s Liquid School Glue
- Sharpie or black marker
- Pencil
- Scissors
Instructions:
1. Download and print out the candy corn craft template. Cut out all the template patterns.
2. Trace and cut out the base pattern on any colored paper. The base will be covered by the other parts of the candy corn craft so you don’t need to be concerned about what color you choose for it. We used white cardstock for the base.
Trace and cut out the bottom layer and the leg patterns on yellow paper, the middle layer and arm patterns on orange paper, the top layer on white paper, the small round shapes on pink paper, and the hands and shoe patterns on brown paper (you can use black if you don’t have brown paper). Cut out the eyes from the template directly.
3. Glue the 2 hand cutouts at the ends of the arm cutouts. Similarly, glue the 2 shoe cutouts to the leg cutouts.
Stick the bottom layer of the candy corn on the base cutout. Note that the base pattern is slightly bigger than the layers so that you can trim the sides later.
4. Glue the middle and top layers on the base cutout.
5. Use scissors to trim the base cutout around the borders of the layers.
6. Stick the arm patterns on both sides of the middle layer and stick the leg patterns on the bottom side of the base.
7. Glue the eyes and blush cutouts on the middle layer to complete the candy corn craft.
How cute is this candy corn man! It’s so easy to assemble too even for the little ones.
If you are doing this craft in the classroom for preschoolers, I recommend cutting out the different template patterns first and have the kids glue the cutouts together. But if you don’t have a time constraint, feel free to have the kids practice their scissor skills and cut out all the template patterns themselves!
