The new year calls for new fun, and the January First Grade Morning Bins are sure to bring just that! They’ve been added to the First Grade Morning Bin Bundle! It’s never too late to incorporate morning bins into your morning routine.
NOTE: Many teachers are choosing to use these as early finisher tubs or during a different part of the day. Generic labels have been included for this purpose.

Let’s take a look at what is included in the January First Grade Morning Bins
Morning Bin #1: Vocabulary
Students will build a vocabulary word with magnetic letters. Then they will match the picture to the word.
Morning Bin #2: Sounds
Students will say the word, listen for the digraph and sort it to the correct mat.
Morning Bin #3: Segment & Blend
Students will say the word and find the matching digraph.
Morning Bin #4: Sight Words
Students will read the sight words and find the mitten that has the matching sight word.
Morning Bin #5: Sequence
Students will read the words and sort them in alphabetical order.
Morning Bin #6: Sentences
Students will spin the spinner and write a sentence that uses the word and ending punctuation.
Morning Bin #7: Grammar
Students will read the sentence and decide if the verb is past, present or future tense.
Morning Bin #8: Writing
Students will pick a problem card and draw and write a solution to the problem.
Morning Bin #9: Rhymes, Syllables & Compound Words
Students will spin the spinner and cover a word that rhymes.
Morning Bin #10: Text
Students will look through a non-fiction book to find text features. They will record the page numbers that include the features.
Morning Bin #11: Count Sequence
Students will arrange the puzzle pieces to put the numbers 1-120 in order.
Morning Bin #12: Comparing Numbers & Making Groups
Two students will each flip a card. They will compare the numbers. The student with the greatest number keeps both cards.
Morning Bin #13: Representing Numbers
Students will flip a number word card and cover the number on the mat.
Morning Bin #14: Base Ten
Students will spin a spinner once for tens and once for ones. Then they will build the number using base ten cubes.
Morning Bin #15: Fluency
Students will roll two dice, add the numbers together and graph the sum on the bar graph.
Morning Bin #16: Addition & Subtraction
Students will spin the spinner and use the numbers to make two addition and two subtraction equations.
Morning Bin #17: Measurement & Data
Students will use snap cubes to measure the items.
Morning Bin #18: Geometry
Students will use a geoboard and rubber bands to create the picture on the card. Then they will count how many rubber bands they used.
Morning Bin #19: Time & Money
Students will choose a card and count out coins to make the amount shown on the card.
Morning Bin #20: Patterns & Fractions
Students will skip count to 120 and write the missing numbers as they count.
Morning Bin #21: Social & Emotional
Students will choose a person they know and write a letter to them.
