This week we are diving into /sh/ digraph word, snowmen, and MLK Jr. She are rocking and rolling on addition and reading strategies. Check out these January Lesson Plans for Kindergarten.
First, just a quick reminder… my school district does NOT have any curriculum provided. Also, we are required to follow the Daily 5 structure, we us the Orton Gillingham approach to phonics using the book Recipe for Reading, and we follow the required curriculum map.
Also, you can check out my January Week 1 Lesson Plans here.
MLK Jr Activities
This week we are focusing on MLK Jr. this week. We are using this Brain Pop Jr. video that is free. We have so many great conversations and we have some great books. You can check out more MLK Jr. ideas here.
Math Mats for Addition
Then, we are working on addition strategies little by little. As we grow with number sense, we add more addition strategies. The blessing is, we can move at the pace of the learners instead of at the pace of curriculum. You can grab these freebie math mats here.
/sh/ digraph
Next, we are diving into more digraphs this week as we focus on /sh/. We have so many FUN sh activities to work on. One thing I want to work with my learners on is differentiating the /ch/ sound and /sh/ sound.
