Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog semi-break and her poetry is sorely missed, we hope she comes back soon. Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too. Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!
This week the theme is The Happy Birthday Song. \\ \
Mildred and Patty were always in tune
with music and good education.
Patty ran a kindergarten
with love and dedication.
Mildred was musically inclined,
used her training as a tool
to help her sister write music
for the children to sing in school.
Together they wrote a little ditty
called "Good Morning to All,"
it was used as the school day began,
the children to order to call.
The tune was simple and appealing,
people thought it was an old folk song,
it started spreading far and wide
with people singing along.
Many years later new words were penned,
now we call it, "Happy Birthday to You,"
when you sing it at your next party,
thank Patty and Mildred, please do!
