THE GRUFFALO
The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson is a fun story about a mouse who is about to become some forest creatures' lunch, but with some quick thinking (and a BIG surprise) makes a safe escape. Your students will love how the little mouse outsmarts its prey!
A mouse was walking through the woods, and was approached by a fox. Of course, the fox wanted the mouse for lunch!
With some quick thinking, the mouse convinces the fox that it is meeting with a Gruffalo, who loves to eat foxes. This of course scares the fox away. Phew!
The mouse encounters an owl, and later a snake. Again, with his quick thinking and a tale about a Gruffalo who would like to eat owls and snakes, he is left alone.
That is until he happens upon a Gruffalo! How surprising that the Gruffalo is real! And it wants to eat the mouse!
With some quick thinking, mouse convinces the Gruffalo that he is the scariest creature in the woods- in fact, the other animals are afraid of him. He takes the Gruffalo to see the fox, owl, and snake. They are afraid because they see the Gruffalo, not the mouse, but the Gruffalo does not realize this. The mouse then says it would like to eat the Gruffalo, who runs away scared!
