WRITE THE ROOM ACTIVITIES
Students LOVE these literacy scavenger hunts, as they look around the room for words and print them when found! Write the Room promotes active learning, and gets students up and moving around the classroom. It also has students practice their matching and printing skills, and introduces them to new vocabulary too!
Kids love using clipboards, so I made sure to hit the dollar store for a class set. I put them in my writing center, along with a batch of pencils and Write the Room recording sheets. I switched out the Write the Room word cards posted around the classroom seasonally, when covering a new theme, or for special days/holidays.
As the years went on, I created more sets to cover ALL the topics I could think of. There are 28 sets in my store...so far!
Using these fun writing tools helped make Write the Room a popular writing center activity. It kept my students on task, and helped them develop their printing skills each day.
I laminated the cards for durability, and kept them in envelopes, labeling them with what pack was inside. They didn't take up much space, and could be used for years and years...and YEARS!
I kept copies of the recording sheets in a file folder. It didn't take up any room, and they were ready to photocopy as needed. Simple!
