As many of you have requested loungewear posts during this time, I wanted to share a few casual try ons and what I loved / didn’t love from recent orders. Abercrombie is having a huge promo with 50% off sitewide (select exclusions on new arrival items) and free shipping for a limited time. This is a rare Cyber Monday-level promo for them, so I can only imagine how hard retailers are trying to keep business going with all their brick & mortar stores closed (while still paying rent, employees & other expenses!).
Asymmetrical snap top pullover xs (see xxs on me)
I have this in versatile black / grey from over a year ago (it was one of the top reader favorite items of 2019!) and got suckered in by their new neutral colors. This “blush pink” is actually more of a pretty pale mauve, though I had trouble deciding between this in the cream with grey. I sized up on this as I’ve gained a little weight since last year, however I’d stick with your usual size because I had to flip up the sleeves on the XS. I do love the marginally longer length though, which now fully covers my crotch for wearing with leggings. This is what I’ve been wearing most days for our occasional stroller walks with Nori to get some fresh air while social distancing!
Target kids jogger pants
I got these on a whim after struggling with finding petite-friendly joggers! Nori has a pair from the same brand, and the big kids version popped up while I was ordering her another pair! I figured it didn’t hurt to give these a try, and they’re oh so cozy and soft. The material is definitely on the thin side, so these are not pants I’d wear out and about but rather for at-home lounging and pajama purposes. I got a kids size L which are a slim fit on me, almost like leggings-joggers.
For thicker, higher quality petite jogger pants you can actually wear outside of the house and for travel, see below:
Athleta Recover Joggers (regular, petite, plus, tall)
A rare 30% off site-wise for this brand! The colors in this outfit are better depicted within this blog post. These joggers were still well-stocked in petites several days ago, but unfortunately went quickly with the sale. I was never able to find xxs petite over the past few months, so these are one size up. They’re a tad loose but I love how nice and thicker quality they are with zippered pockets and a nice length. Check out their other petite joggers, as I’ve generally heard good things about their activewear and loungewear.
Knit paperbag shorts xs
These were a definite keep for me – very comfortable, medium to thicker weight, has pockets and not too short. The grey is sold out but olive is still available!
Color block crewneck sweatshirt xxs
This was my favorite sweatshirt of the bunch from my order. I love the neutral colorblock, which adds a little interest but will still be easy to pair with denim. The cut is perfectly slouchy with a slightly cropped length good for petite ladies, however note the sleeves are full length, so as you go up in size, sleeve length increases as well. If you have shorter arms, check out the balloon sleeve sweatshirt below which has a similar cut but 3/4 length sleeves!
Satin Lace Bodysuit (several colors)
I’ve always loved A&F lace camisoles, so the combo of this versatile new taupe color + the functional bodysuit feature (won’t come untucked easily) makes this bodysuit a win for me. I style my lace camis with so much ranging from pleated skirts, to high waisted trousers and basic denim. Per usual, I wear my Bristol 6 adhesive nippies with this.
Ultra high rise ankle straight jeans (several washes)
I had high hopes for these jeans, but rather than a true straight cut, these felt a little kick cropped on me with a slight flare on the bottom. The Short is a tad long on me for straight-cut jeans (which I like to hit above the ankles) so I would need to cut the hems about 2 inches with scissors, or wear them cuffed up like this. Material is on the light-medium weight side and is not a thick denim (no sheerness issues though, with skin toned undergarments).
Balloon sleeve sweatshirt xxs
Sweatshirt elevated by stylish, slouchy balloon sleeves and a slightly cropped casual fit. This is great for petite ladies since most of their other sweatshirts have full length sleeves that get longer as you size up. This one is simple, but I’ve worn it with both leggings and jeans and like how it’s just a comfortable basic but with small special details.
Cinched hem hoodie
Very cute sweatshirt with a feature I love – generous kangaroo pockets (you can’t really see them in the photo). However I don’t wear many hoodies except for working out, so personally preferred the crewneck sweatshirts featured above for versatility.
High rise mom shorts
These were a return as I should’ve sized up one or two sizes for a true, looser “mom short” fit. I love the flattering higher rise, but a 24 was too snug on me (currently 5′ around 98lb) and I think I might prefer a slightly longer inseam length as well these days!
Sherpa crewneck sweatshirt
This was SO soft and cozy, however I wasn’t a big fan of the cut. The sleeves are relaxed and slightly balloon style like other sweatshirts in this try on, however the torso was a little more fitted, and I would’ve much preferred a consistently relaxed cut throughout.
