9 to 5 Style in Yellow

Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Fonda of Savvy Southern Chic and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!

Hey, y’all! Well this past week was my last one working from home and I am not really sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it will be nice to get out and move towards something that feels like normalcy again. Our entire office will not be returning yet, just a handful of us who are working on our transition plans. We will continue to maintain all social distancing practices, so I am not overly anxious. On the other hand, I have really enjoyed not setting an alarm or having a daily commute. The flexibility has been pretty amazing, too. I have a feeling it’s going to be a rough Monday morning… 🙁

Want to stand out in a sea of neutrals? Pull on some yellow and bring on the sunshine! Yellow is such a bright and cheery color, yet most women claim they cannot wear it because it will wash them out. I say, “Don’t be afraid to embrace yellow!” Here are a few tips on making it work for you:

  •  Try out different shades until you find the one right for you. The right one should brighten your complexion, bring out your eyes, and is one you feel good in.
  •  Instead of a yellow top or jacket that places color right by your face, move the color down to pants or a skirt and you can’t go wrong.
  •  Tone down the brightness by pairing it with darker colors.
  •  Not sold? Skip the yellow clothes and throw on yellow accessories.
