Sew Reporter – 20th March

Happy Sunday gang! Today is officially the first day of spring in the UK, and we can feel that season shift in the air! We’re excited to share that you can now pre-order the next edition of Tauko magazine which is packed with timeless designs you will treasure.

We currently have 50% off all Simplicity patterns so you can grab a bargain and we’ve added a wonderful new designer to the Fold Line family. Happy browsing and have a lovely Sunday!

We are stocking a wonderful new designer in the shop that we would love to share with you. Ruth Maddock Makes specialises in designing sewing patterns for children with sensory challenges. The seams are worked on the outside of the garment for greater comfort. We are also stocking Ruth’s first adult pattern, pyjama pants, which include instructions for working the seams on the outside or inside.

We absolutely love a shacket, and Raven Maureen’s latest make has us utterly swooning. The fabric choice, the buttons, the stitching… it is all perfection. Raven used the unisex Simplicity pattern, S9388 and you can find a full YouTube review on Raven’s channel.

Spring jackets are high on our sewing list at the moment and Sally’s Pona Jacket by Helen’s Closet is giving us plenty of inspiration. We love Sally’s choice of fabric – a classic navy linen that will make any outfit feel this bit chicer! There’s a little surprise inside as Sally chose a bright green fabric for the Hong Kong finishing on the seams. We love it Sally!

If you’ve also been hooked by the Netflix series, Inventing Anna, starring the incredible Julia Garner, you might like this article. Inventing Anna is a miniseries based on Anna Delvey who found her way into New York society and has been referred to as the “Fake Heiress. Variety delves into the looks from the show with costume designers Lyn Paolo and Laura Frecon who took to Instagram for much of their research. They discuss five of their favourite outfits from the show, it’s a fun read!

If you love Killing Eve as much as we do you might like to give this BBC show a watch. Naomi Shimada and Zing Tsjeng dissect the final series, episode by episode in Obsessed with Killing Eve…, covering everything from the fashion to the plots to the characters. It’s a must for any super fans (but do watch the Killing Eve episodes first at it does discuss them at length!).
