Happy Sunday team! We have had a glorious spot of sunshine in the UK that has certainly has put a spring in our step and left our sewing minds whirring with project possibilities. We’ve added lots of lovely new sewing patterns to the shop this week that might tempt you to take on a new project for spring and have rounded up some adorable mini sewing patterns for matching with the adult version. The Netflix smash hit show, Bridgerton is back for a new season and we are looking forward to swooning over the stunning costumes. Set during the Regency era in England, Bridgerton follows eight close-knit siblings’ attempts to find love. It’s a dramatic and fun show.
As it is a costume drama, you may not find yourself wanting to literally copy the looks from the show (unless you have been invited to a fabulous Bridgerton-themed soiree!, but we are quite inspired by that Regency neckline. It is a wide, slightly curved off square neckline that falls into an empire line. We have seen quite a few patterns emulating this style, and we wonder if the Bridgerton effect will see more being released… Here are a few that we think capture the essence of this style for all those fellow Bridgerton fans!
The Raj Dress by Tammy Handmade and the Pauline Dress by Closet Core Patterns both give us Bridgerton vibes! They have that lovely, rounded square neckline that has a bit of a regency feel to it and they are gown-like, but appropriate for daily wear.

Sometimes you stumble across a make that you just need to know more about and Meredith’s (part of the Sew Liberated team) Hinterland Dress hack is mesmerising. Both the dress and the quilted vest are made using the Hinterland pattern by Sew Liberated. It’s a stunning example of slowing down and enjoying the stitching process.
We’ve been crushing on the Phen Shirt by Pattern Fantastique since its release and this review has made us love it even more! lmorabit sewed it up in a beautiful peachy coral Tencel satin fabric and said it’s “My new favourite button up“. We’d love to copy absolutely everything about it!
We’ve added a lovely collection of patterns from Made my Wardrobe to the shop that are well worth a look! Worn together, the Bonnie jacket and Thelma Trousers are a modern ensemble, the Hilda Bag is perfectly practical for cyclists and there is an iconic trio of undies that will enable you to fill your drawers with me-made pants.

Tilly and the Buttons have launched a great new pattern that can be made from woven AND knit fabrics, we’ve added a bunch of lovely designs from Made My Wardrobe to the shop and Cashmerette has released a boob-friendly shirt that comes with cup sizes from C to H. Happy browsing team!

The Style Sessions are all about how to get to know your own personal style and enjoy the confidence and feel-good factor that comes from this so you can be confident that the clothes you sew (and/or buy) will be the ones you always reach for and love to wear again and again. The Style Sessions: Step, Stride & Skip into Spring/Summer 2022, is in collaboration with Fiona Ingham, a personal stylist from House of Colour.
