The Last Days of Winter
Happy Monday! I took yet another week off from posting. Sometimes you just need a little longer vacation from blogging, and I have definitely been doing that the last two weeks. With winter still here, we definitely still have colder days. Last week the kids school was cancelled for two days in a row, which meant I needed to scramble to find coverage for work. It was nice though to be able to spend extra time with the kids, and we made good use of the time! With the colder temperatures, we have been doing a lot of indoor activities. My daughter wanted to make scrunchies for her ice skating team. After watching her struggle with hand sewing, I decided to go out and buy a sewing machine (I picked up this one at my local JoAnn’s) so she could make it the right way. She loved it so much (and is a whiz at making scrunchies now)! We decided to make pajama pants too, and so I also decided to buy this serger as it is perfect for sewing professional seams. We were able to sew four pairs of pajama pants in less than an hour (it is that fast!). I am by no means a sewing expert, but maybe one day you’ll see me doing a sewing tutorial on this blog too!
Avec Les Filles Faux Fur Knee Length Coat
Though I much prefer to stay at home snuggled by the fire when it is cold outside, I do still have to venture out into the elements every day. I’ve always loved the look of a white coat in the winter, as it is a great way to add a fresh and clean element to your outfit. A white faux-fur coat is one of those pieces you will wear year after year, and it is so easy to dress up or dress down. I found this Avec Les Filles faux fur coat on Amazon, and I’m so glad I bought it! This coat is so soft and luxurious, and it is a nice heavy weight (perfect for colder temperatures). When you put it on, you will literally not want to take it off! I have found similar coats running $150 or more, but this fabulous coat is priced under $70 .
I am wearing white here, but this coat comes in beige, charcoal, and olive green (though I like the white color the best). This coat is somewhat oversized, so I recommend sizing down one size if you are small chested. I am wearing the XS here and it fits fairly well on me.
Dress it Up or Dress it Down
As I said, you could wear this coat with a dress on a fancy dinner date. But just as easily you can wear it more casually, with jeans and a sweater. Here I am wearing this Chelsea 28 ribbed turtleneck sweater (unfortunately it is sold out, but this sweater is also nice, and this one is very similar). My favorite AG straight leg jeans (which look great on petite ladies!), and my Vince Camuto boots complete the look.
The combination of pink and white together definitely remind me of spring. By the end of the winter season, I just get tired of wearing black and brown all the time, so adding a few pastel colors in the mix, is a nice way to stay warm, and feel inspired about the change of seasons!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
