With the anticipation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games heating up, so is the hype for Olympic-related gear and apparel.
Through its official Team USA Shop, Nike is offering a number of pieces for the event, including their brand new medal stand kit and 25th-anniversary women’s basketball jersey celebrating Team USA’s undefeated winning streak since winning gold in 1996, all of which were recently unveiled ahead of the upcoming games. Nike’s Team USA Medal Stand Kit provides a collection of matching windbreaker jackets and pants, and footwear made from recycled materials. Each piece features Olympic accents, highlighted in American colors throughout.
But Nike’s athleisure collection isn’t the only option for Olympics fans who want to rep their Team USA pride all summer long.
Adidas also enters the fold with the release of its “Tokyo” collection of footwear, scheduled to drop on July 3 with prices ranging between $130 – $200. The line features an array of footwear for lovers of many sports and events, including the Adidas 4DFWD and Adizero Prime Sprint for track and field, the Harden Vol. 5, and N3XT L3V3L FUTURENATURAL for basketballers, and the Ubersonic 4 tennis shoe.
This year’s games are met with high anticipation following last year’s postponement due to the global pandemic. The Olympic games were originally slated to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020, but were pushed back in March 2020. They’re now scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan. Despite the rescheduling, the event is still being marketed and branded as Tokyo 2020.
