What I Wore: 4 Repeat Outfits

Last week I was looking through the archives of my blog posts from this time a year ago, and I came across a week of outfits I loved. It seemed like a no-brainer to recreate some of those looks since they are exactly weather-appropriate right now. But, I always hesitate at recycling outfits on the blog because the posts don’t often perform well, and I worry you guys will be less interested in seeing stuff you’ve already seen.

HOWEVER, I do think it’s critically important for us to shop our closets instead of always adding more. And I think it’s also important to normalize repeat outfits, even if they don’t ‘perform’ well here on the blog. It’s important to me to share the message that wearing the clothes we already own is an awesome sustainability strategy.

For the last handful of days, I let an outfit post from last year be my inspiration when I got dressed! I really enjoyed what I wore AND it made getting dressed easier than usual! A few times over the years I’ve mentioned that I think outfit documentation is really helpful when you’re trying to hone in on your personal style. Having a catalog of photos you can look back on helps inform you of what you like/what works for you, and it serves as your very own inspiration board. Before I started the blog, I use to take quick shots in a big mirror outside my bedroom and I’d keep them in a folder on my phone for later reference. You don’t have to be a blogger, or Instagrammer to to find value in recording your outfits.

Keep reading to see what I wore, along with a side-by-side comparison of last year’s outfit.

Leather + Wide Legs

I’ve been wanting to remake this outfit for some time. I love the slim-fit jacket paired with the generous-cut pants. I am a big fan of pairing sneakers with a leather jacket, it keeps me from feeling overdressed.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Jayne Leather Jacket, (M) Veda via Poshmark
ReCashmere Vintage Crew (M) in Heathered Sand, c/o Everlane
Made in USA Center Hi Top, PF Flyers (women’s 10)
Fisherman Tote, Esby
Scarf, made by my mom (pattern, yarn)

Slouchy Sweater + Slim Jeans

This pairing is so easy, it almost doesn’t feel like an outfit. I like the way the sweater drapes. I actually feel like the jeans are slimmer than I’d like. I really like the cut of these jeans, and based on the reviews on Everlane’s site, I would probably take them in my true size next time (instead of sizing down like I did here).

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Cashmere Rib Round Crew Sweater (M), Everlane (really cozy, but prone to pilling!)
90’s Cheeky Jean (27), c/o Everlane, this wash discontinued, but love the vintage sunbleached
Ralf Boot (10), Freda Salvador

Coveralls + Sneakers

I love this outfit so much, both iterations. I am very attracted to the idea of coveralls/jumpsuits, but they definitely slow me down when making a pit stop. For now, I’ll file that annoyance under sacrificing for fashion.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Alpaca Cardigan, from Zady, FW’16 (very similar)
The Coverall (M), c/o muumuu
Court Sneaker (10), c/o Everlane (LOVE these, so comfy!)
Fisherman Tote, Esby

All Black + a Duster

I think the 2019 version of this outfit is way cuter than the 2020 version! It might be the color of that duster, which is just too good. Do you wear dusters? I love them in theory, but always have trouble styling them. I saw that Esby just re-released this style in new colors for spring, and they are gorgeous! The tanstone is neutral perfection.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Lounge Jacket, Aritzia
Merino Turtleneck, thrifted (similar in cotton or cashmere
Jeans, (28) Agolde
Made in USA Center Hi Top, PF Flyers (women’s 10)
Tortoise Hoops, c/o Baleen

Thanks so much for following along with my little style challenge! It was so much fun I might just do it again!
