This stir fry was so yummy and really easy to make. I did all the prep earlier in the day including the sauce. So when it came to dinner time It was so quick. I am totally in love with black pepper so this dish hit the spot. Even though this dish is healthy it tastes like a proper takeaway dish. To make it healthy I used edamame noodles but you could use buckwheat or soya noodles or even brown rice instead.

Ingredients (serves 2)
For the Marinade
- 1 sirloin steak, fat removed and thinly sliced
- 1 tsbp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp corn flour
- ¼ tsp five spice powder
- ½ tsp fresh black pepper
For the Sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 150ml beef stock
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tsp fresh black pepper
- Pinch five spice powder
For the Stir Fry
- 1 banana shallot, peeled and sliced
- 1 sweet pointed pepper, seeds removed and cut into chunks
- 100g sugar snap peas
- 2 tbsp of oil for frying, I used groundnut
Directions
- In a bowl add the marinade ingredients and give it a good mix. Add the steak and massage and mix so all the steak is coated. Put in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Make the sauce by adding all the ingredients to a bowl or jug and give it a good stir. Set aside
- In a wok add the oil until smoking. Add the beef and stir fry for about 2 minutes. Remove and drain on some kitchen paper.
- In the same wok add the shallot and peppers stir fry for a minute.
- Add the sugar snap peas, beef and sauce. It will bubble so reduce to a simmer and cook for a couple of minutes. The corn flour on the beef should thicken the sauce, if it doesn’t just add a teaspoon of corn flour with a dash of water and add to the sauce. Serve and enjoy 😊
