EASTER EGG | JAN BRETT
In Jan Brett's Easter Egg, Hoppi the bunny is determined to win the Easter egg decorating contest. The winner gets to help the Easter Bunny hide the eggs on Easter morning!
Hoppi sets off to gather materials for his project. As he searches, he finds that the other rabbits are working on their eggs for the Easter egg contest...and their work is both creative and amazing!
Every rabbit he meets working on their Easter egg is quick to give Hoppi some supplies to use for his own Easter egg project. Not only did Hoppi receive supplies but also words of encouragement and support.
Hoppi soon realized that making a beautiful Easter egg was a lot harder than he thought it would be. He changed his focus from winning the Easter egg contest to decorating an Easter egg that he would be proud of.
But then Hoppi finds a robin's egg that has fallen out of its nest. He sits on the egg to keep it warm, so that the mother robin can stay on her nest and tend to the other eggs. Hoppi cares for the robin egg all night.
The Easter Bunny comes by to collect the entries for the Easter egg decorating contest. He is impressed by the beautiful and creative work that has been done. But Hoppi had an egg to be proud of, keeping mother robin's egg warm and safe until her baby hatched. Hoppi and the Easter Bunny went off to hide the Easter eggs together.
