SCAREDY SQUIRREL MAKES A FRIEND
In Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend by Melanie Watt, Scaredy Squirrel has NO friends. He is too afraid to encounter something so dangerous!
Scaredy Squirrel finds interesting ways to pass the time all by himself. He does many safe activities- he reads, knits, yawns, and whistles.
One day, however, he sees something that will make a perfectly safe friend. He creates a chart of things he will need in order to make a good first impression, and then makes a plan for how to go about making the perfect friend. He then performs a risk test, as he does not want to be bitten. (Your students will LOVE his lists, charts, and tests!)
Unfortunately (or fortunately), nothing goes according to plan, yet he still makes a new friend after all! Your students will be surprised who Scaredy Squirrel's new friend is (and how they meet!)
This book study activities unit is packed with Common Core aligned literacy companion activities to go with the book Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend by Melanie Watt. It includes a craftivity that makes a sweet bulletin board, to showcase student learning.
