We just LOVE The Hallo-Wiener by Dav Pilkey for a Halloween themed read aloud! The message of kindness vs bullying is precious!
Poor Oscar! He gets teased by the other dogs about his looks. They call him a wiener dog, and Oscar hates that!
And to make matters worse, Oscar's mom dresses him as a hotdog for Halloween. He's a Hallo-Wiener!
On Halloween night, the other dogs run into some trouble near the spooky graveyard. They end up in a pond, and need help!
Fortunately for them, Oscar does not hold a grudge. He jumps in the water to rescue them, and because of his Hallo-Wiener costume he is able to save the day!
