The Fab 40’s is a group of six stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe

Shoes TheFab40

Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With six widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.

“If someone tells you that you have enough shoes, stop talking to them. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.”

This month Daenel challenged us to build a look “from the ground up” and style our looks around my absolute favorite thing ever – shoes! The biggest challenge for me was deciding which pair of my pretty extensive collection to feature.

Ultimately I decided on these patterned cream and blue mules with the most adorable pom poms. I do love them and I don’t think I have ever shared them here on the blog, so that helped narrow it down. When I wear statement shoes like these mules I typically tend to dress in basics and let the shoe be the star of the show. A striped button down and step-hem jeans compliment the colors well and I elevated this casual look by popping my collar and adding layered pearls and baubles. I always enjoy a subtle little pattern mix, too!
Daenel – Living Outside the Stacks
“Repeat after me, “I deserve new shoes.”

I am so glad Daenel chose this fabulous theme, as shoes are this girl’s best friend! Daenel wears some of the cutest shoes around and her Mary Jane game is no joke. I enjoyed seeing her wear these funky ankle strap sandals with her step hem jeans and pretty white blouse. So very fresh and perfect for summer.
Dee – DeeSayz Details: Shoes: Aldo| Skirt: Mango| Tshirt: Gap|Bag: Chloe| Necklace: Lifestyle Stores
“Good shoes take you good places.”

I would like to extend a big welcome to Dee as the newest member to The Fab 40’s! She is a minimalist style blogger from Gurgaon, India and spent ten years as a director of a fashion and design institute. Dee was our guest blogger when we styled western wear last year and we are happy to have her join us as a permanent member. Her neutral peep toe wedges are perfect for summer and ones you can reach for over and over because of their versatility.
Sheela – Sheela Writes Details: Reversible Coat – Jagged Hanger|Lace Bodysuit – Victoria’s Secret|Pants – NY & Co.|Booties – GX by Gwen Stefani| Sunnies & Bangles – thrifted
“If you are going to kick ass, you need kickass shoes.”

I have to admit I was truly looking forward to seeing what shoes Sheela would choose to style for this theme. Like me she does not shy away from a statement shoe and has an amazing collection of bold designs. She did not disappoint with her colorful booties. I am mesmerized by this mix of lace, plaid, and floral. It definitely makes me want to be more intentional in trying monochromatic column looks topped off with dramatic flair!
Shelbee – Shelbee on the Edge Details: Clogs: Indigo Rd.| Dress and Tights: Old Navy| Jacket: Thrifted from Solitary Consignment| Hat: Linda Gibbs Handmade| Leather Earrings: Good Life Gift Shop

“Some say laughter is thebest medicine, but we say it’s new shoes.”

Shelbee’s shoes were actually chosen for her this month, as someone had asked her to style a look featuring clogs and tights. Initially she was hesitant about the idea, but after giving it a try she became a fan. I have to say those fringed clogs are pretty fabulous and I really like them with the tights! Now I am thinking I don’t own any clogs, hmmm… some shopping may be in order!
Suzy – Suzy Turner Details: Utterly divine shoes: Jimmy Choo| Dress: Zara|Denim Jacket: Primark|Clutch & Necklace: Inherited
“Keep your heels, head, and standards high.”

Suzy looks positively sexy, gorgeous in her nude strappy sandals and little black dress. Now those are some shoes after my own heart! The nude color, the gold details, the platform and chunky, high heel are all making my heart swoon. Seriously, Suzy looks as though she is ready to dance the night away at Studio 54 and I am all for it!

“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy shoes and that’s kind of the same thing.”

Such a wide variety of amazing shoes were featured in today’s post! What is your favorite kind to wear?
