It wasn’t until I was binge-watching the Queer Eye series on Netflix that I actually heard this fashion hack referred to as “the French tuck”. It might be hard to believe, but this super simple fashion hack can make you look slimmer, leaner, and more put together. And you can do it in about two seconds!

You might think it sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t! This fashion hack is the real deal, and depending on how much TV you’ve been watching lately, you might already know about it too! So what is a French tuck, exactly?

What Is A French Tuck?

A French tuck is a sort of half tuck, or a modified version of having your shirt tucked in where only the front part of the shirt is tucked. As for how to do a French tuck, it’s not rocket science — you just tuck the front portion of your shirt into your pants or skirt, while leaving the sides and back untucked.

It only takes a couple of seconds, and it can have quite an effect on your overall look! As Tan says, “It’s going to balance your proportions, and help you look taller and leaner.” This tuck also can also make an outfit feel a little more sophisticated and smart, even when applied to a casual outfit.

After seeing Tan explain the French tuck on Queer Eye, I started noticing it all over the place! I’ve seen dozens of models sporting the look on retail sites and in catalogs over the past few weeks. I’ve also seen plenty of people in real life sporting the look too.

It looked so great on everyone that I had to give it a try for myself. So incorporated it into a few of my own outfits recently, and I’ve been loving the results!

Why I Love It

For anyone like myself who feels a bit self-conscious about their midsection, the French tuck can help. It helps provide a bit of camouflage around the tummy area, while also making your legs look nice and long.
